IS LOST APPROPRIATE FOR MY CHILD?

Arizona Onstage Productions has stated in the description of LOST on our ticket agency’s web site that this production is for “ages 8 and up.”

As a parent, you are in the position to gauge your child’s ability to tolerate and enjoy 90 minutes of operatic singing and dialogue that uses Joycean language, neologisms galore, with fantasy, surrealism, history and sorcery plus Grimm’s fairy tale elements and certain activities onstage that could be disturbing to sensitive children, including some implied violence and the (unseen) dismemberment of one of the leading characters (with gory results onstage), to mention only several situations. The music is lovely and lyrical, classically flavored and original, but perhaps not immediately accessible to an untrained ear or novice listeners.
